The Chairperson of SUMATRA Nomination Committee established under section 8 of the Surface and Marine i Transport Regulatory Authority Act No.9 of 2001 invites Tanzanians with relevant qualifications as spelt out herein to apply for appointment to fill the vacancy of the : Director General of SUMATRA.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Director General shall be responsible for the day to day operations of the Authority, subject to the directions of the Board, He/ She will be responsible for the following:

• To lead the top management team in formulating the overall business plans and advise the Board of Directors on strategic corporate plans, objectives and policy guidelines;

• To ensure effective implementation of the Surface and Marine Transport Regulatory Authority Act, 2001 as amended from time to time;

• To ensure reporting on performance and other statutory requirements to the Board of Directors and other relevant stakeholders. In this regard, he/she shall be responsible for ensuring accurate and efficient financial and personnel management, accounting and auditing systems of the authority

• To provide linkage between, the Authority, the Board, the Government and the

• General public on the affairs of the Authority;

• To maintain the integrity, transparency and accountability of the Authority; and

• To perform any other duties as may be assigned by the, Minister in accordance with SUMATRA Act, 2001.

Minimum Qualifications

• Be a post graduate degree holder from a recognized university;

• Possess at least ten years experience in one or more of the fields of management, law, economics, finance or engineering;

• Have knowledge of the industry;

• Satisfy the Nomination Committee that he/she is unlikely to have a conflict of interests under SUMATRA Act, 2001;

• Be willing to serve as Director General;

• Be well suited to perform the functions and duties of the Director General competently and honestly.

Remunerations

The Director General of SUMATRA will receive a competitive remunerations package as may be determined by the Board of the Authority from time to time.

Following the expiry of the tenure of five (5) members of the Board, the Chairman of the SUMATRA Nomination Committee who is also the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transport, invites Tanzanians with relevant qualifications as spelt out herein to apply for appointment to fill vacancies of five (5) Board members of SUMATRA. The tenure of the Board members is staggered and ranges between three to five (3-5) years.

Minimum Qualifications

• Be a graduate of a recognized University;

• Have at least ten (10) years experience in one or more of the fields of management, law, economics, finance or engineering;

• Have knowledge of the industry;

• Have satisfied the Nomination Committee that he/she is unlikely to have a conflict of interest as stipulated in section 11 of the SUMATRA Act;

The Role

• Review with Credit officers and Branch Managers client feedback, market intelligence, workshops/focus group reports and review product design and performance to establish if change, redesign or re-launch is appropriate.

• Co-ordinate budget objectives of the responsibility area on the SME business to ensure targets are achieved as per approved budget.

• Preparing budget and projections for the SME business. The budget to include the list of existing, prospective and potential customers to benefit from the loan product

• Ensure that customer satisfaction for the SME products are achieved by providing accurate advise for selling in line with customers expectations.

• Monitor and ensure SME business portfolio performance is go.od and within the acceptable risk level.

• Perform other duties as may be directed or assigned by his/her superior.

Skills
• Conversant with standard computer applications (Excel and Word).

• Good communication with high proficiency in the use of (English and Kiswahili).

• Strong credit analysis skills.

• Good business management, leadership, coaching and team building skills.

• Strong relationship and sales management skills.

• Strong analytical skills.

• Good customer relationship and sound understanding of bank's loan products, policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications
• Holder of B.Com/ BBA Degree, BA Economics or Advance Diploma in Business

• Administration/ Banking.

• 5 years working experience as SME Manager/ or similar position in a reputable Bank.

• Ability to work under pressure with strict deadlines and limited supervision.
